uPASS Go Automates Vehicle Tracking at Caravan and Motorhome Club
Caravan and Motorhome Club Installed by PAD Security 3 min read

Overview

Challenge

No automated way to track which vehicles were on site across two storage facilities, forcing staff to physically check 400+ bays — a process that was time-consuming, error-prone, and left members without reassurance that their caravans were secure.

Solution

Nortech deployed uPASS Go long-range UHF readers at each site entrance alongside Paxton Net2 access control, with tamperproof UHF windshield tags on every vehicle matched to the driver's proximity card for automatic tracking and instant unauthorised movement alerts.

Key Results

  • 600 vehicles tagged with tamperproof UHF windshield tags across two sites
  • Real-time entry/exit logging replaces manual bay-by-bay checking
  • Instant alarm triggered on unauthorised vehicle removal
  • Partner-led installation completed with zero customer downtime

“The system gives us the reassurance that no vehicle can be removed without us knowing. The time saved through automated event logs is huge — before, we had to check each vehicle in and out manually.”

Marc

Project Manager, Caravan and Motorhome Club

The Caravan and Motorhome Club needed a reliable way to track vehicle movements across two busy storage facilities. Working with PAD Security, Nortech deployed uPASS Go long-range UHF readers to automate the entire process, replacing manual checks with real-time logging and instant alerts if any vehicle is moved without authorisation.

The Client

The Caravan and Motorhome Club is one of the UK’s largest organisations for touring caravanners and motorhomers. The club operates storage facilities across the country, providing secure storage for members’ caravans and motorhomes when not in use. Two of these sites, located in Folkestone and Ashwell, required a modern vehicle tracking solution to protect over 600 stored vehicles.

The Challenge

Across the two storage facilities, the Caravan and Motorhome Club had no automated way to know which vehicles were on site at any given time. Without a tracking system, staff had no reliable method of detecting whether a vehicle had been removed without authorisation. The only option was physically checking each bay across sites holding over 400 vehicles.

This manual process was time-consuming and error-prone. It also left the club unable to reassure members that their caravans and motorhomes were genuinely secure, undermining confidence in the storage service.

The Solution

Working with PAD Security, Nortech deployed uPASS Go long-range UHF readers at each site entrance alongside Paxton Net2 access control. Every vehicle was fitted with a tamperproof UHF windshield tag that is automatically detected by the uPASS Go reader as the vehicle passes through the entrance.

Each tag is matched to the driver’s proximity card. If a vehicle moves through the entrance without its registered owner presenting a valid card, the system raises an immediate alarm. This dual-credential approach ensures that no vehicle can leave the site without proper authorisation.

The system automatically logs every entry and exit event, providing the Caravan and Motorhome Club with a complete, real-time record of all vehicle movements across both sites. The partner-led installation was completed with zero downtime for club members.

The Benefits

  • 600 vehicles tagged with tamperproof UHF windshield tags across two sites
  • Real-time entry/exit logging replaces manual bay-by-bay checking
  • Unauthorised vehicle removal triggers an immediate site alarm
  • Significant staff time saved through automated event logs
  • Seamless integration between uPASS Go and Paxton Net2 across two sites
  • Partner-led installation completed with zero customer downtime
